Pohorje Regional Park is a protected area dedicated to preserving the natural and cultural heritage of Pohorje and to sustainable, nature-friendly use and visits to the area.

The first protection zone of Pohorje Regional Park is primarily intended for preserving pristine natural areas and the natural development of ecosystems, and covers forest reserves and protective forests.

Natura 2000 is a network of protected areas dedicated to preserving the most endangered species and habitat types in the European Union.

Quiet zones are areas of exceptional importance for the protection of animal and plant species, where use and visiting are adapted in space and time to minimize disturbance.

Closed forest roads are closed to all vehicles, including bicycles, except for forest management purposes.

Open forest roads may be used at your own risk.

Public roads are other public roads: regional and municipal.

Hiking trails are marked paths intended for walking in the hills and mountains. They are marked with the Knafelc waymark (a red circle with a white dot in the center) and signposts.
